The American Staffordshire Terrier dog is surprisingly easygoing. They are a loyal and good-natured dog but can be stubborn at times.
While the AmStaff can be very gentle and affectionate with children, they have been known to kill other dogs.
The American Staffordshire Terrier were originally bred as fighting dogs; therefore, must be introduced to socialization at a very young age to avoid any instinctive tendencies to attack other dogs, cats, rabbits or other family pets.
They are adaptable to apartment life but should be exercised regularly. When outside, it is best to keep this breed of dog on a leash to ensure they don't attack or harm other people's pets.
Though they are very muscular, the AmStaff are also very agile, graceful in movement, and keenly aware of what is going on around them.
